Патогенез ишемических инсультов (ИИ) и периферических артериальных тромбозов при мерцательной аритмии (МА), как правило, имеет кардиоэмболическое происхождение, однако до 25% ИИ при МА имеет атеротромботическую природу, связанную с атеросклерозом сосудов головного мозга или атероматозом дуги аорты.
