В 2003-2004 гг. в России было проведено открытое многоцентровое нерандомизированное исследование эффективности и безопасности варденафила, назначаемого в течение 12 нед в гибких дозах, у мужчин с ЭД различной этиологии. Исследование включало следующие этапы: 4-недельный вводный период без лечения, 12-недельный период лечения и 24-часовой период наблюдения после последнего визита с целью отслеживания серьезных нежелательных явлений. В исследовании участвовали крупные исследовательские центры: ФГУ НИИ урологии Росздрава, кафедра урологии РУДН им. П.Лумумбы, кафедра урологии МГМСУ, кафедра эндоскопической урологии РМАПО, кафедра урологии и оперативной андрологии РМАПО, научный центр Рентгенрадиологии Росздрава, кафедра урологии и оперативной нефрологии РГМУ им. Н.И.Пирогова. Выводы: 1. Применение варденафила более чем на 89% улучшает качество эрекций и соответственно способность пациентов совершать половые акты. 2. Результаты анкетирования показали не только существенное улучшение эректильной составляющей половой функции, но и возрастание частоты и интенсивности оргазмов и удовлетворенности половой жизнью в целом. 3. Варденафил хорошо переносится пациентами разных возрастов, имеющих различные сопутствующие заболевания, и безопасен даже при длительном регулярном применении в течение 12 нед. Заключение: Варденафил является препаратом первой линии терапии в лечении ЭД различной этиологии. Проведенное исследование показало его высокую эффективность и безопасность для пациентов. Среди преимуществ препарата вместе с безопасностью его для сердечно-сосудистой системы можно отметить и возможность гибкого изменения дозы вследствие разнообразия дозировок.
