Медикаментозное лечение имеет симптоматический характер и стабилизирует больного в предоперационном периоде. В России вопросы лекарственной терапии сохраняют свою актуальность, поскольку протезирование аортального клапана и баллонная вальвулопластика у пожилых пациентов пока не нашли должного распространения. Более столетия самым обсуждаемым пороком сердца в мире является сенильный аортальный стеноз (АС), впервые упомянутый в научной литературе в конце XVII века и подробно описанный Иоганном Менкебергом в 1904 г.
